Shopify Affiliate App
Every order in the store, attributed to a partner
Install the app, switch on one theme embed, and Referly tracks orders, discount codes and refunds. Each partner gets a discount code created in your store, and a customer who comes back months later still counts for the partner who found them.

Orders from partners

Three chances to get the order right
Shopify orders arrive by more routes than a link click, so Referly checks three things in order. Most tools check the first and stop.
- 01
The discount code on the order
If the order carries a code belonging to a partner, that settles it. No click required, no cookie involved, and it survives ad blockers and shared devices.
orders/paid · discount_codes
- 02
The cart attribute left by the link
If there is no code, Referly reads the attribute the tracking script wrote into the cart when the visitor arrived from a partner link.
orders/paid · note_attributes
- 03
The tag on the customer
If there is neither, Referly checks whether the customer was attributed before. This is what keeps repeat buyers paying the partner who originally found them.
customer tags · plg_affiliate_{id}
When an order is attributed by code, Referly still re-attaches the click behind it, so the country and traffic source stay on the record instead of collapsing into “direct”.
The whole thing, in four
From install to a reversed commission
Nothing here needs a developer, and no theme file is edited at any point.
Only on Shopify
Point a rule at a collection, not a list of products
Pay 20% on Summer 2026 and 10% on everything else, and let products you add to that collection next month inherit the rate without anyone editing the rule.
- YesRules can target a collection, a product, an order amount or a coupon used
- YesA gift card can be excluded outright at 0%
- YesRates still vary by partner group and by tier on top of this
Every other platform here targets products one at a time. See the side-by-side.
What connects
What Referly tracks in Shopify
Fourteen rows, and Shopify is the only integration that answers yes to all but one of them. Hover a label for the detail.
Referral tracking — A signup, trial or new customer is recorded against the partner who sent them, before any money moves.
Sale tracking — Every completed payment arrives as a sale with its amount, products and currency, and a commission is calculated from it.
Recurring commissions on renewalsEvery order a customer places is tracked, including repeat orders. There is no subscription schedule to follow.
Refunds reverse the commission — A refund reverses the commission it earned, so a partner is not paid for revenue you gave back.
Coupon-code attribution — A customer who types a partner's discount code at checkout is attributed to that partner, with no link click and no cookie involved.
A discount code per partner — Referly creates the discount code inside your platform when a partner joins, so you never mint codes by hand.
Per-product commission rules — Referly reads your product catalogue, so a rule can pay one rate on one product and a different rate on another.
Collection-level rules — Point a rule at a collection and every product inside it inherits the rate, including ones you add later.
Commission net of tax — Tax is subtracted before the commission is calculated, so you are not paying a percentage of money that belongs to a tax authority. On by default, and switchable.
Commission net of shipping — Shipping is subtracted before the commission is calculated. On by default, and switchable.
Pay partners in store credit — A partner's balance can be issued as Shopify store credit instead of cash.
Connects without a developer — Install the app, switch on the theme app embed. No theme code is edited.
Connect from the dashboard — You authorise the connection from inside Referly. There is nothing to configure on the other side afterwards.
Carries your own click id — An `rsubID` on the inbound link travels all the way to the sale, so an ad platform or a network can match the conversion back to its own click.
Syncs partners into a list — Partners are added to a named list or group in your email platform as they join, so onboarding and announcements go out from the tool you already write in.
Pays partners through it — Money actually leaves through this platform. Referly hands it the batch, and it moves the funds to each partner.
Pays everyone in one batch — One approval sends every partner what they are owed, rather than one transfer at a time.
Payouts
Pay partners in store credit, if that is what they want
A partner’s balance can be issued as Shopify store credit instead of cash, which is often what a brand’s own customers actually prefer. Cash payouts stay available for everyone else. PayPal, Wise or bank transfer.
Store credit exists on Shopify, Stripe and WooCommerce. It is not available on the billing platforms, because there is no store to spend it in.

Setup
The four steps, written down
The same four you just watched, in a form you can follow along with.
- 1
Install the Referly app from the Shopify App Store
Enter your store handle and approve the install. Webhooks and the web pixel are registered for you.
- 2
Switch on the theme app embed
One toggle in your theme editor turns on tracking. No theme files are edited.
- 3
Choose links, coupon codes, or both
Coupon codes are created in Shopify for each partner. Links work on every page of the store.
- 4
Set your commission and invite partners
Pick a rate, add product or collection rules if you need them, then send your first invites.
Nothing here needs a developer. Orders are tracked one at a time. Shopify has no subscription schedule to follow, so repeat orders are tracked as new orders rather than as renewals. Refunds reverse the commission automatically. Commissions are held for your payout window before they can be paid.

FAQ
What store owners ask
The questions founders ask in the first ten minutes.
14-day free trial · No credit card required · Cancel anytime
No. Tracking runs through a theme app embed, which is a toggle in your theme editor. No theme files are edited, nothing is injected into your Liquid, and uninstalling removes it cleanly.
