01What Tapfiliate does well
Tapfiliate has been at this a long time and it shows in breadth: 30+ ecommerce integrations. Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe and a long tail Referly doesn't match. It is also the only vendor in the category that publishes its overage rates, $1.50 per 1,000 clicks and $15 per 1,000 conversions on Launch, which deserves real credit: everyone else with a usage meter makes you find the ceiling by hitting it. Its own pricing page says *"we do not charge a transaction fee on your sales"*, and that's genuine. Deeplinks, affiliate groups, an in-platform messenger and both standard and advanced MLM arrive on Scale, and its per-plan trials (7, 14 and 30 days) are a clever ladder.
If your program is high-revenue and low-traffic, its meter is genuinely the cheaper shape. That is a real recommendation.
02Where Tapfiliate stops
Three limitations, each from their own pricing page:
- 1The click meter. Launch includes 5,000 clicks and 500 conversions a month. Traffic above that is billed. Predictably and to their credit, but billed. A viral moment is an invoice.
- 250 affiliates on Launch. The entry plan caps affiliates at 50 and programs at 1. Referly's $75 Startup carries 200 affiliates.
- 3The Enterprise gate. Full white label, SSO and unlimited usage are Enterprise-only, custom-priced. Automated payouts (via Trolley) and custom domains start on Scale at $149 to $179/mo.
03What Referly adds on top of the tracking
The two products overlap heavily on tracking, links, coupon codes, cross-domain, recurring commissions. What differs is the meter and the operations stack.
Referly's bill scales only with affiliate revenue: $75 to $10,000/mo, $149 to $30,000/mo, clicks always unlimited. Downstream it collects W-9, W-8BEN and W-8BEN-E with the TIN encrypted, issues EU self-billing invoices with VIES validation, and batches payouts through your own PayPal or Wise with no percentage, all from Business. The portal runs white-label on your own domain at $149 in 15 languages. And the supply side exists: a marketplace listing (separate Marketplace Licence) and Influencer Discovery ($199/mo add-on, 500 invitations a month).
04Pricing: $75 vs $74 to $89
The stickers are nearly identical. Referly $75/mo, Tapfiliate $74/mo billed annually or $89 monthly. The meters make them completely different bills.
Worked both ways, monthly billing: a program with 20,000 clicks, 300 conversions and $6,000/mo in affiliate revenue pays Referly $75 and Tapfiliate $89 + $22.50 in click overage, about $111.50. Flip the shape: 3,000 clicks, high-ticket conversions and $22,000/mo in affiliate revenue pays Tapfiliate $89 flat while Referly is on Business at $149. Neither meter is universally cheaper; your traffic-to-revenue ratio decides it, and the calculator below runs your actual numbers.
05Who should choose Tapfiliate
A store or subscription business whose affiliate revenue is high relative to its click volume, on a platform inside their 30+ integrations, with stable enough traffic to model against the published rates. Or a program that genuinely needs multi-level MLM beyond two tiers.
06Who should choose Referly
A program whose traffic swings, creator audiences, viral loops, paid spikes, where a click meter turns good weeks into surcharges. A team that wants tax forms, EU invoicing and batch payouts inside the product rather than around it. Or one that wants the white-label portal at $149 instead of an Enterprise call.
